Profile

Attorney Scott H. Cupp is uniquely qualified to handle any state criminal matter.  His extensive experience has been gained as both a highly successful assistant state attorney and as a defense lawyer.  During his 16 years as a prosecutor he handled virtually every type of criminal matter from DUI to first degree murder.  He has prosecuted numerous high profile murder cases.  Several of those trials were covered live on COURT-TV.

After leaving prosecution in 1999, he opened his criminal defense practice and successfully defended many clients in a number of courts across Florida.  He successfully defended clients with charges ranging from misdemeanors to murders.  Demonstrating how he is regarded as a criminal lawyer, in 2003 Mr. Cupp was asked by Stephen B. Russell, the newly-elected 20th Circuit State Attorney, to return to prosecution as Chief of the Felony Division in an effort to reorganize the Fort Myers Office.   After fulfilling his commitment to Mr. Russell, Mr. Cupp returned to private practice in August of 2006.  He re-opened his office in West Palm Beach where he was a highly regarded sex crime and homicide prosecutor for 10 years during the 1980’s and 1990’s.

Mr. Cupp has been sought out to teach thousands of police officers, teachers, doctors and lawyers at venues around Florida and around the country on a variety of topics ranging from testifying in court, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of cases, to handling the media in high-profile cases and handling crime scenes.

Attorney Cupp is highly regarded across Florida as a criminal trial attorney by both prosecutors and defense attorneys.
